The ‘Trivandrum Vision 2025’ vision document, which is the catalyst for TRIMA 2022, is the result of extensive consultations, involving over 6000 participants, held with multiple city development initiatives and forums. TRIMA 2022 will examine ‘Vision Trivandrum 2025 and attempt to analyze and provide an as-is assessment of the capital city. It will also expound on the vision for the city based on five key pillars: 1) Sustainable Development 2) Human Capital 3) Seamless Connectivity 4) World Class Infrastructure and 5) Improved Liveability.
Projects and initiatives such as integrated waste and sewage management, taking Technopark to greater heights, fast-tracking Vizhinjam port, upgrading the city’s markets, making Thiruvananthapuram a medical tourism hub and so on will be discussed and deliberated over the two days. For each project or development initiative, an attempt will be made to define clear objectives and measurable goals, besides discussing frameworks for the implementation of these ventures.
Kerala is celebrated as 'God’s Own Country’ for its pristine natural beauty. And Thiruvananthapuram, the State’s capital, is known for its greenery and natural beauty. To preserve green public spaces and invest in Thiruvananthapuram’s sustainable development, key priorities are effectively managing waste, protecting water bodies and water supply, improving public transport, and leveraging the city’s solar power potential.
With several reputed educational institutions and research centres, Thiruvananthapuram has immense potential to reinforce its reputation as one of India’s most sought after education destinations. Achieving this will involve strengthening access to quality education across multiple stages and elevating Technopark into a global centre of excellence for technology enablement, while drawing on the city’s pool of high-quality talent and providing a pathway to secure employment.
Thiruvananthapuram is known for its old-world charm. But today's cities also require modern amenities to grow. There is a need to push the city to the forefront of development by providing access to the latest standards of communication, high speed Internet and upgrading transport options for commuters. Other key priorities include creating commercial markets of international standards while protecting the conventional attributes of local markets and re-launching Kovalam on the global stage by transforming it into one of the world’s best beach destinations.
Recognizing that innovation and entrepreneurship can open up opportunities and allow brands to keep up with the latest trends, Thiruvananthapuram offers opportunities for learning through design labs and a digital university. The key priorities here are to build on strengths in human capital and research capacity to foster innovation, and to create physical and virtual spaces where entrepreneurs can come together to make the city a hub of 21st century innovation.
